TDWJC supported our sisters in Hood County by attending their annual scholarship luncheon, and we also had a great time at the fundraising dinner of the Johnson County Democratic Party, supporting JCDP through our attendance and by contributing many items for the JCDP’s silent auction.
Citizen Training on Redistricting – September 28, 2019
TDWJC members participated in training for the Redistricting Hearing coming to Fort Worth, October 2019.

We participated in Johnson County’s semiannual Antique Alley.

Program: The 2019 Ballot—Texas Constitutional Amendments. Ten proposed constitutional amendments will be on the November ballot. Led by our Program chair, we compared the pros and cons of each, discussed information from the Texas League of Women Voters, and prepared to cast our votes on Election Day, November 5, 2019. Julie Oliver, Congressional candidate for District 25, was the keynote speaker at this event sponsored by What Happens in Texas (WHIT). Also speaking were Ken Shetter, mayor of Burleson; Sheryl Gray, Vice President of TDWJC; and Carl Jones, manager of Turn Rural Texas Blue. Emcee was Rodger Isom with Isom’s Morning Coffee. Jim and Connye Hart hosted us at their bookstore, The Published Page.
July 2019 TDWJC Chapter Meeting
Our guest speaker was Charise Olson, executive director of ReInspire. A newly established nonprofit based in Cleburne and serving all of Johnson County, ReInspire provides support “from the inside out” to current and former foster youth to set and achieve goals around employment, housing, and community connection.
Lights for Liberty

Nationwide on July 12, Lights for Liberty shined a light on the horrific abuses of the Trump administration* in human detention camps at the southern border and across the country. In a vigil sponsored by TDWJC, more than 120 people came together in solidarity in Burleson to protest the atrocities being inflicted upon refugees entering the United States. We believe that all human beings have the right to life, liberty, and dignity.
